Organizing Committee:
- Annual Christmas pot-luck lunch
- as per our November meeting tradition, we started off with our pot-luck lunch where each member brought a dish to share
- we had a huge variety of delicious food items to choose from: meatballs, pastas, salads, cheese and deli meat, desserts, appetizers. You name it, we had it!
.
- Christmas centerpiece display contest
- Cherie, Martha and Nicole created 3 distinctly different but equally wonderful displays for this competition
- in accordance to the rule of the contest, each display must feature a Santa Claus figure: Cherie’s Santa was waiting for children’s visits, Martha’s was taking flight to visit homes everywhere and Nicole’s was greeting couples enjoying Christmas festivities
- after the contest, Cherie, Martha and John (helping Nicole) spoke to members what inspired them with their display ideas and what items they selected for their displays
- Gift exchange (with a twist!)
- with club members standing in a large circle and each holding a wrapped Christmas gift he or she brought, the original plan for the gift exchange was to have the organizers to recite a story in which gifts would be passed to the “left or right” from one person to next according to the story line
- however, due to technical difficulty (i.e “the story” went AWOL), the group had to improvise and make up the story by having each person to ad-lib a few lines for the story
- this turned out to be a lot more fun than anticipated because the story plot twisted and turned unexpectedly from person to person; ultimately, everyone received a gift when the story ended
