  1. Lunch, anyone?!?!
    • our annual Christmas potluck lunch kicked off our November meeting
    • as in previous years, our members had once again outdone themselves by bringing out a large variety of delicious and mouth-watering food – you name it, we had them on the table: turkey, chicken, chili, meatball, salads, pickles, cakes, cookies, brownies, etc, etc.

  2. Village Display Vignettes with a Winter Activity Theme
    • it seems our members truly enjoy the challenge of creating displays with unique themes
    • at this meeting, members were asked to bring in displays highlighting winter activities and they responded tremendously with flying colours as you can tell from the photographs below

  3. Highlights of the Chicago gatheringaIMG_0150
    • Cherie talked about the Department 56 gathering in Chicago this past September and mentioned that Martha and Barry were the recipient of the “Collector of the Year” award presented by the National Council of 56
    • the next event will take place in Cincinnati in June 2019 and the planning and registration of that event is well under way

  4. A Few of Her Favourite Things …
    • Darlene showed everyone her collection of vintage ornaments that are both intricate and beautiful

  5. Gift Exchange
    • another tradition at our Christmas meeting is gift exchange
    • based on drawing of names, each person either picked a wrapped gift from the pile on the stage or “stole” a gift previously picked by somebody else
    • no one unwrapped the gifts until the “exchange” was completed
    • at the beginning, everyone was cordial and polite and only picked a gift from the stage; but as the “exchange” went on, people became more bold and decided that the gift in someone else’s hands became more desirable and all of a sudden, a lot more “exchanging”/”stealing” was happening
    • it took awhile but eventually, everyone got a new gift in his/her hands and the unveiling of the gifts brought lot more smiles in everyone’s face
