- First off, we all got locked out of our meeting place due to some miscommunication among the Banbury Community Center staff. So, our members made the most out of the cool but sunny day by congregating and socializing at the parking lot area. Fortunately, a staff showed up with the key and allowed us in.
- The January group did a good job in decorating the meeting room with a Valentine themed tree while the rest of us continued our socializing and chatting (which we all do so well!
).
- Patricia talked about a neat looking “glass block” display item she came across recently. When plugged in, this “glass block” lights up with mini-lights inside. She gracefully donated it to the club as a door prize item and it was quickly snatched up at the earliest opportunity by a lucky door prize winner. Helen mentioned that the NCC had given the club the lit-house NCC Traders Pin Shop (with the pin) for paying our membership dues on time.
- Our main group activity for the day was to create Valentine theme gingerbread houses. Each group was given a couple of gingerbread house kits along with candies of different shapes, colours and flavour. As you can tell from the photographs below, everyone involved had a blast building these houses. At the end of the day, all did a wonderful job. Two of our members, Roy and Amelia, were kind and thoughtful enough to take some decorated Valentine houses to a nursing home they often visit. Apparently, these little houses produced many smiling faces at the nursing home.
