2013 May meeting highlights

Today’s club meeting is a bit unusual as its agenda did not include any display contests, games or hands-on activities.   Instead, it focused on a couple of important subjects regarding the club and its membership:

1. Club constitution and bylaws
• Martha introduced to the club members an updated version of the club bylaws
• for many years, the executives of the club has been wanting to amend the bylaws to be more “member friendly” and to be written in such a way that is easier to understand
• after a round of discussion, the membership voted in favour of the new version and thanked Martha for a job well done 



2. meetings with WOW factors
• Cherie and Martha led another discussion on meetings with WOW factors
• for the past 19 years, the club has had some memorable and some not-so memorable meetings; but in order for the club to keep its current membership interested and engaged, every member has to be involved
• the goal of this discussion is to find out from members what factors or activities are appealing to the membership
• this turned out to be a very productive session as there were many good ideas hashed out among the members
