2013 November/Christmas meeting highlights

  1. Annual pot-luck lunch
    • our November meeting once again followed its tradition and started off with the Christmas pot-luck lunch where all members brought in their favourite dishes to share
    • there were appetizers, salads, casseroles, meatballs, hot entrees, desserts, you name it and we had it – the photographs did not do justice how much food we had! Smile

  2. Christmas Display Contest
    • the rule for our Christmas display contest was quite simple: use a cake plate as the display base
    • our creative members had a great time coming up with various displays
    • afterwards, they shared their inspirations for their displays and showed us what special material or items they used to personalize their wonderful creations

  3. Show-and-tell
    • Gail and John decorated the stage area with a bare Christmas tree and a few hand-painted non Department 56 porcelain houses
    • club members were asked to hang their favourite Christmas ornaments on the tree and at the same time, shared their stories behind their precious collection

  4. Gift exchange
    • members were asked to bring a consumable item for the “gift exchange” activity
    • everyone formed a circle and passed a wrapped gift to his/her left or right according to the storyline of Mr. Wright and his family
    • as usual, excitement and anticipation built until the story ended and everyone got to claim the wrapped gift in his/her hands

  5. Charity donations
    • our annual charity drive was upon us as the club collected gift certificates for teenagers and canned or boxed food items for those in need in the community
