1. Group activity
- The May group hosted a “pound” party where all club members were asked to bring a wrapped item weighing approximately 1 pound. All items were auctioned off with a maximum bid of $5 and proceeds would go to the club’s charity fund.
- If the item did not weigh a pound by itself, creative wrapping, such as putting the item(s) in a much larger box or putting in heavy filler material, would bring the item up to the “correct” weight and at the same time, increase the mystery and intrigue to the item.
- Thanks to our expert auctioneer Jim and his helpful assistant Sue, the auctions went off without a hitch. Bids were fiercely competitive and there were times where the maximum value was placed on the very first bid of an item because the bidder “just had to have the item”.
- After the final bid was over and all the monies were counted, the auctions raised a total of $130.10 for our charity.
2. Silent auction of village items
- Our club was fortunate to receive a few village items from Department 56 as a thanks for being a NCC member.
- Executive members decided that all items be auctioned off and all proceeds collected would be donated to Hospital for Sick Kids.
- Our silent auction expert Judy helped running the auctions and we collected $241 in total
