2014 May/20th Anniversay meeting highlights

1. A special 20th anniversary village display
   • the club decided to build a large village display consisted of pieces brought in by club members to commemorate the club’s 20th anniversary celebration
   • these village houses or accessories could be the very first Department 56 item that started the member’s collection or could be the member’s favourite piece in his/her collection
   • club members Barry, Don and Jim prepared a large table used for the display and Don, Barry and Bruce helped put together the display at the meeting
   • After the display was completed, each club member spoke about the piece they brought in and shared their collecting experience
2. Show and Tell
• Bruce and Martha shared with the audience tidbits on how to accessorize displays
• Martha described how to create a spring garden flower hedge using popsicle sticks and miniature flowers
• Bruce demonstrated how dollhouse accessories can be used in displays with Dept 56 village buildings
• Pat and Bruce discussed the possibility of hosting a collector’s event in Toronto
3. What’s a party without food?
   • of course, there is always food involved in our meetings and everyone definitely enjoyed the 20th anniversary cake specially made for the occasion
