- Annual General Meeting
- on March of every year, the club meets to discuss highlights from the previous year and plans/ideas for the upcoming year
- this year we also had an election of officers for the positions of Membership, Program Director and Secretary; Peggy, Gail and Ruth were re-elected for their respective positions
- the club thanked them for the wonderful jobs they have already done and the wonderful jobs they surely will be doing for the next 2 years
- the club also gave a great big thanks to Barry and Martha as our newsletter editor for the past 2 years and welcomed Ann to take on this challenge
- Base brainstorming
- everyone was asked to bring in an unique or unusual base that could be used for a display
- for example, at one Department 56 collectors convention, a motorcycle tire was used to display a few “car” themed Department 56 village pieces
- our members responded remarkably (as usual) and brought in all types of interesting “bases” such as baskets, planters, books, slabs of slate, wheels, hats and even left over flooring
- Tasting Fair (Fare)
- Since our meetings seem to always revolve around food
, the second activity was to have members bringing in a Department 56 display item and matching it up with a food item for tasting
- that was a definite success as there were 18 different vignettes with food samples on displays – there were sausages, cookies, pickles, cupcakes, cocktail shrimp, candies, pies, pretzels, cheese, etc
- below are just a few photographs of these “tasty” displays
